Eeeeaaooww...

Musical selections for Turkey Day:

Freeform Five - damn! Everyone should own this one (Misch Masch).

She Wants Revenge - you've all(?) heard the comparisons (Interpol, Joy Division, etc.); these guys rock. Tear You Apart has been playing on Sirius (Alt Nation and LoC) since the summer.

And - some funny shit.

Have a great T-Day all (and don't forget to take your digestive enzymes).

Enjoy,

Resentment, trust - what else?

The therapy sessions seems to be taking hold.
It's interesting work, and it's great to have homework!

So everyone is into Johnny Cash right now - yes?
I started seeing Joaquin on magazine covers months ago (NYT Style section back in the summer?).
Well, I'm no different - I got the Folsom Prison recording (a cheapy at $8.99 - at Virgin). It's pretty fucking cool. And an NPR story the other day on All Things Considered was about a reporter who was there who took along his recorder (a reel-to-reel) and produced a very interesting audience recording.

Check out some of the other shows on NPR - All Songs Considered (available in podcast - most of their shows are), Fresh Air...it's all good.

All the best - and Happy Turkey Day.

Oh m'gawd - I'm becoming my mother?!

And not in a good way.
It's all the bad habits (ugh).
What the hell happened? Or has it just been a long time coming?
They say we all become (somewhat) like our parents - and I'm not liking what I'm seeing.
It's almost as if I'm not comfortable in my own skin any more.
I should have woken up to this earlier, but I can't turn back the clock.
Only option is to work in the present, keep the lessons learned (but don't let them weigh me down) and focus on making it (all) that much better.
I can (and will) do this.

Running - yes, running.
Thought time and again that I never really liked it, but I'm gonna give it a shot.
Heading over to Jack Rabbit's to get video taped and fitted for the proper shoes.
There's also good beginner's booklet's available at Runner's World.

OK - gotta run.
Later,

Winter (started in Fall)

Getting a sense that it's gonna be a long/cold winter.
Upstate this weekend - new furnace being installed today (weeee!).
A dusting of snow overnight provides for a bright scene.

This past week, I started going to therapy (Gestalt).
Alot of crap (simply bad habits now?) I've got to get through.
It's all good - or will be.

Really diggin' on the new Ladytron.
It's that 80's synth sound that get's to me.

Magazine recommendation: Stop Smiling (currently reading the recent issue on Auteur's).

Enjoy,

Just lucky I quess...

I work for a firm that owns a corporate box @ MSG.
A perk that I've been fortunate enough to be invited to a few times.
On Nov 3rd I went to see the NIN show - simply put...intense.

Death from Above 1979 opened - a good band, but better in a smaller venue.
Then Queens of the Stone Age - they rocked, even though others in the box were not that impressed.
NIN put on a charged shows - not enough of the new album (I think they only did 5 songs) but we got some of the oldies - Wish, Head Like a Hole, etc. Good visuals too - they dropped a thin off-white curtain in front of the stage and projected images for a few songs towards the end of the set.

Today is Saturday and we're still in Bklyn - no upstate with weekend as we're heading to the city tonight for a club/lounge evening...hanging with the vampires tonight.
I used to really like doing this more often, but with the house now, I'd rather be out of the city up in the woods doing whatever (and there is ALWAYS something to do when you own a house).

Take care now - and have a great weekend (so cheesy).

What does Tuesday feel like?

Forever away from the weekend.
Not that I have anything special to look forward to.

Reading suggestions today kids (expand yer brain):
Just finished reading Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. Twisted tale - a good quick read.
Also getting through blink by Malcolm Gladwell - interesting take on rapid cognition, perceptions, thought processes, etc.
Pema Chodron has written many good and accessible books about the things we all experience with life - she is a Buddhist nun and a student of Chogyam Trungpa (renowned Tibetan meditation master - in case you don't know him).

OK - music purchases from last week include:
The New Pornographers (I can't get that song Twin Cinema outta my head - very catchy).
And if your not a member, sign up on heavy.com for their monthly cd - typically great stuff that I would not necessarily listen to or buy. And the website is really kewl too.

Peace,
