Time...

...passes by so quickly.
But it's all relative. Does time even matter? Is it suppose to?
Precious yet fleeting. But I'll try to stay more positive...

Enjoying Death Cab for Cutie (I know, I know - but am I that mainstream?).

Rubber Soul (my fav Beatles album) turned 40.

If your not subscribed to ALL the Flavorpill related websites, you should head on over there and pick one or two (just a fan - no comp there whatsoever).

Now go - enjoy.

Local talent

Everyone (yes - EVERYONE) should support local talent.
Seek out the bands/music you like - then go to their shows.
Or be daring - just go to a show (maybe the band name sounds intriguing) - it doesn't cost that much (usually less than $10).

Local for me is also a friend.
Yes, I have friends - and one of them has his own band:

Custard Wally

(that's Chris - the guitarist/singer/mastermind)

They played last night at the PussyCat Lounge (yup, that "lounge" downtown - behind the AMEX).

Now GO OUT THERE and find some local talent.

Enjoy,

Therapy - does it work?!

UGH.
So, I've been having some problems at work, and one suggestion was to "talk" to someone.
Tonight was my first session. Before I knew it, it was over. And all I did was talk. And talk. And talk. What the hell?! OK OK - I know, give it time. Whatever. Not sure about this. Still think I can figure it out myself. Did have a good talk with my sis-in-law this past weekend - now that was helpful. She's so kewl.

Music for today?
Still REALLY into the new NIN - but I did get my prepaid iTunes purchase of the new Depeche Mode today...and it came with a video (Precious). Seeing them in Dec. @ MSG. I've always liked them.

Sunday in the city...

The Times.
Chill (Sirius channel 35) on in the background.
Fresh ground and brewed coffee.
Small pleasures for us - typically spent at the country home, but not this weekend (and I usually have to wait until we get home Sunday night to sort through the Times and then need to selectively read sections during the week...if I get to them at all).
Gonna just hang in the apt. for most of the day (the simplest of pleasures - being home).

Recommendation for today: The Brazilian Girls. Noticed they've got a bunch of videos available now on the new/improved iTunes (I want one of those new iPods, but if I can wait another year or two they will have 200GB storage capacity with HDTV/LCD screens and you'll be able to fold it up and stash it in an inside pocket!)

Two in a day? No - the twenty twos

OK - check it out:
Went to see stellastarr* at Irving last Thursday. Thought I was going there early to see Giant Drag. But another band was on the bill - the twenty twos. They totally rocked. I suggest all should consume their tunage:

While you're at it, the other bands on the bill that night:

Now go and play nice.

Sat. AM

The joke is is that I'm becoming a Jewish redneck.
Wake up at dawn (practically) like a farmer.
Home in the country with mini-barn (it's a shed that looks like a barn), guns (one shotgun, one rifle, carry permit but no handgun yet), power tools - all that crap. And I like it.
Anyways, so like I'm still in Brooklyn - gonna surprise mom (she's in S.I.) this morning with breakfast, and a little bit of company. We'll have small talk, read the paper (ah, the joy of reading the Sunday sections of the Times on Saturday), that's about it. I love my mom (I think), but we're not very friendly (not beyond the basic kiss hello/goodbye, small talk crap). It's my fault, I just don't like her - I just need to remember to just be nice. That's all she wants, but it's tough.

OK - enough on that.

Another weekly joy: thesoundsinmyhead

Enjoy.

Stayed home...

OK - so we decided not to go upstate.
Whateva (I do what I want!)
Any shows? Suggestions?

Maybe something at The Hook?

Ahhh - Friday

A Friday of work after having off Thursday is like sort of experiencing a second - longer - weekend. Sweet.

Music for today - Nine Inch Nails.
The new album - With Teeth - is Trent's best outing since like forever (OK, since the Downward Spiral - so it is over 10 years).

If you don't own this yet, run don't walk to the nearest record shop (yes, I still call them RECORDS), and pick it up - you can't wait for it to come in the post from some online purveyor.

Up to the country home tonight (that sounds so proper) - gonna cut me some trees, drink some wine, eat some barbeque. Such a sweet pleasure to leave the city on weekends - you can really stretch out, enjoy FRESH air, and at this time of the year see some amazing colors.

First posting (too much pressure!)

Off today.
It's Yom Kippur (but I still had to take a vacation day), so I'm fasting - water only. Not too tough as I had a great meal at Craftbar last night, plus it was a bit late...should hold me over until tonight.

VV Best of NYC edition - always a lot of great stuff. Trolling through the Music section, it's an hour later, and I still am not past the first page.

Checked out:
brooklynvegan.com (which then brought me to)
scenestars.net (The Arctic Monkeys?? Damn, I'm not up to speed on all this, that's for damn sure)
theunderrated.blogspot.com (A rainy day mix - thanks Rachael)

Let's see how long I can keep this up (the blogging that is).
